Glass-Heckert or Harrach? Looking for help. Mac

Glass-a real beauty-looking for help. Mac Found this beauty today for next to nothing. I normally would pass by glass like this but it spoke to me…! Details: 5.5" high, marked on bottom with what appears to be 5/349, gold enamelling decoration, applied handles and I believe they are called prunts. It is in great condition except for minor wear of gold on rim. Could this piece be made by Heckert or Harrach? Shot in natural light. Shot under lamps. Detail shots. Thanks. Question about packing pottery and glass.

I have been packing pottery and glass items for my husband's ID and mine for the last three years. We use USPS priority mail boxes, bubble wrap, and peanuts. Since January, I have had 3 buyers contact me that their items arrived totally broken. I do not understand what I could be suddenly doing wrong. Do you have any suggestions for me? Thanks for helping, Carol

Is Anybody Here Familiar With Turtle Creek Studios ?

I found this beautiful redware slip trail milk pan at my local TS. The back is incised '1998 Christopher Woods'(sp?) and then 'Hello-good day LEAD GLAZE Not for Food Use' Then there is a wonderful bird with a twig in it's mouth. Is this the same Chris Woods who's a master potter at The Workshops of David T. Smith and Turtle Creek Pottery ? TIA.

Blue Glaze Pottery Vase with CHINESE Marking - old or newer?

Thank you for taking a look at this really quite beautiful blue glazed pottery. I know it's not an antique piece, but it looks as if it has more age than the new stuff coming out of China. The base has an impressed circle with Asian symbols inside, but so faint I cannot make it out. Shiny glass-like glaze has lots of crazing whether by design or age. Any ideas?

Glasses: Is this vase Bohemian and by Harrach?

Trying to ID this maroon vase with white interior and gilt decor. Is it Bohemian? Any idea on time frame? Is it by Harrach? It has a Harrach flavor with the gilt enamel design and markings. My mother bought it in the late 1940s to 1960 in an antique shop in New England. She thought it was something of value for had it displayed in her china cabinet with her other glass/china treasures for decades. It stands 8½"and 4¾" at widest point. Marks on bottom: European "7" or a partial something "88gl. 3." or "88gf.3." "P. 265." I can't make out Harrach's feather plume mark unless the top mark is a remnant of the mark. The arrangement of the numbers / alphanumeric lines look similar to Harrach marks such as on the following site: http://sites.google.com/site/bohemianglassandmore/harrach-alpha-numberic-markings-de-constructed TIA. --- Susan

Is there a system to Haeger pottery's Numbering System???

Early on, 1930- 1938 numbers were all under 1000, many lower single and double digit numbers (some with an alpha). In the 1938-40 catalog the "R" numbers start designating Royal Haeger for Royal Hickman. BUT 3 digit and four digit numbers continued in 1938-1940 from double digit through the series 2000. In 1942 all types of numbers appear, some with alphas and then the 3000 series starts, etc. The numbering was all over the board. Does anybody have a handle on how the numbering system worked at Haeger in the early years, prior to 1950? Thanks in advance. wdywdpkr

******* Coming Attractions Thread 6/29 through 7/5 *******

Welcome all to the PGP Coming Attractions Thread, I will start a new one every week on Monday. The rules are: 1. No more than two pieces per post and no more than three posts per week. (That way we are not jamming up the board and it puts everyone on the same page.) For a total of three posts per week and a show of six items (1 photo per item) - so choose wisely. 2. No long drawn out descriptions. If the piece is signed, just simply name the maker, or unsigned, or material (glass, porcelain, earthenware...). Keeping It Simple. 3. Pictures should be no bigger than 450 X 450 at 72 DPI so the board isn't broken and our dial up friends can easily view. 4. Items posted can not be up for sale yet but can be up during the week it is posted. 5. Only ebay sales posted here please! No auction links, photos only. 6. Please, only post within ebay rules - for example, make sure you only post your own photos, ones that you have personally taken! Remember this is your opportunity to show fellow collectors what you will be listing on ebay this week. Have fun! Marie

Pottery Whimsical Pipe-smoking, sailor suited frog with life preserver..

This cute little guy is a mystery. I think he's bisque. He only stands about 3 1/4" tall. He is sitting on (I assume) a lily pad, outfitted in a sailor's suit (complete with bell bottoms), smoking a pipe, and seems pretty relaxed for a guy who seems to be putting on a a life preserver. Questions: Planter, or pin cushion holder? Frog, or toad? Just the creator's whimsy, or is he a character from a children's story? Date? Maker? Help Needed With French Limoges China

Hello i have a small set of French Limoges china that I am trying to determine the age of. This set is marked on the back: J Pouyat Limoges in a wreath, it also has a wreath with a W in it. Below that wreath is a banner which reads Philadelphia Paris New York. Also has the letters J.P. over a line with L France under the line. I found this on replacements but they did not show a pattern name or have any in stock. If there is no pattern name do you think i would be better off selling as a set instead of trying to break it up? Thanks in advance.

Walter, is there a chance this marked tile is Italian, Camastra?

I posted this tile before with it's very hard to read mark and I think it might say STno CAMASTR_ on the bottom, there is more writing and there is a partial impressed flower (or star) with a dot center. I tried to highlight some of the letters as they appear to me. The back is very rough, chipped and still has mortar on it. It is 7¼" square and ¾" thick and glazed over crudely applied colors with a bumpy surface In researching I found that tiles were made in Camastra however I haven't found an example of marks used and this doesn't strike me as Italian. Does this look familiar to you? Thanks so much! sis

It is signed on the back with "Lithuanian Woods," "Terra Cotta Majolica" and "Marie" -something. I can't really make out the last name. 3) Iceland Pottery Jug Measures 7 1/2" in height. It picked it up because it looked so unusual. It reads "Handunnid" and "Iceland" on the underside, but I don't recognize the signature.

Only the yellow, largest bowl is numbered #404, the rest are not numbered on the bottom, they do have all of the other information on the bottom, just no numbers. These I am sure are all the same age as the all have identical wear issues, none looks any older than the rest. The question I have is, does not having a number on the bottom make this less desirable or collectable?? Also if anyone can give me a ballpark idea when these were made, I would really appreciate the information. I buy and sell many different items and buy as many reference guides as I can to educate myself. I just purchased the Replacements Limited Homer Laughlin ID book and I guess that my next purchase should be the Pyrex book. Thanks so much for your help! Michelle

Beautiful Red and Clear Glass Vase

I bought this at a garage sale about a year ago. It is 10 inches in length and the top is 4 1/2 inches wide and so is the bottom. It has no markings on it. I am assuming it is glass. Please if you can figure out how much an item like this would go for.

This is a 3 sided decanter about 8 1/2" tall with a raised design on all 3 sides--looks like a crab claw or fish fossil. I couldn't get a good photo. There's the remnant of a Blenko sticker on the bottom if that helps. Thanks! Janice

These plates are made of either soft paste? or porcelain, they are relatively thin, and each one has a condition problem, and yet I find them immensley appealing. Can anyone tell how old they are? Your thoughts are appreciated, there appears to be an incised or impressed number on the back, but they are very hard to read and impossible to photograph

I need help with a MONUNMENTAL Size - Signed ROYAL DUX PORCELAIN VASE

I can't even pretend to be very knowledgeable about pre-1912 Royal Dux figures, but I'm usually able to find the "name" of a particular piece of work - especially the huge ones like this 2 foot tall vase. A scantily clan woman is being followed around by a sheep. So I had no doubt I'd be able to find another example on the Internet and thus identify it. But after two days of looking, I can't find another example anywhere. Then there is another problem: It is artist signed, and I can't find a list of artists/sculptors who created these large pieces for Royal Dux. Surely one exists! Wouldn't you think? I'm hoping someone can point me in the right direction, since I was fortunate to purchase a rather large collection last week. Thanks for any and all suggestions. Dennis

Pottery: Royal Dux Nude figure Confirm Date and help ID name?

Good late Saturday evening, I need help confirming the dating on this Royal Dux Nude, and possibly finding a name for her. I saw some here on Ebay with one store naming her "Dana". I think pinned down the marks to after 1993 if I read the site right that had the RD marks. She is about 9 1/4" tall. Thank you in advance, Tina

Pottery Tile - help w maker/description -man? pottery vase help w sig.TIA

Hi All, This tile is intriguing to me..it measures 6" x 6", I believe it is signed Brader..I did google and found a potter - Brad Brader on the Cape in MA..I emailed him a few times but he hasn't answered, it may not even be his work. Anyway..what to you think this tile depicts..my daughter thinks it is the birth of man...it is very interesting in a carved relief design, look at the designs on the lower border.. I posted this vase a couple of weeks ago with other items, responders needed better pics of the bottom..it measures 4 1/2" tall, neat design to the sides, siggie is a puzzle..does it start with Design? any ideas out there? The mark is blurry, filled in with glaze so very hard to get a clearer picture..I did not compress the marking pic, so I believe it should enlarge for you... Thank you for your input and ideas! Jamie

Help ID Ruby Glass Decanter Set Please

The glasses stand 4 1/2" tall. Very pretty etched? design. Any idea of age or maker? The elderly lady who I got these from said she got them as a gift many years ago. We all know how memory can sometimes fail so I have no idea of age. David wasn't thinking of being king when he was tending sheep; he was just doing what God sat before him.

Antique? blown glass pitcher or jug help please.

Any info such as age or id is greatly appreciated. The glass is very thick and it does not sit level on the bottom(it wobbles). I am not sure the stopper is the original? It looks perfect together, they both look blackish. But when you hold the pitcher up to the light, you see amber color in the thinnest parts. The stopper must be true cobalt? age of this wash basin set?

This set was purchased second hand about 50 years ago. The only mark on the set is on the smaller pitcher- "OK308ROSE"- the other pieces have no marks. I was told it probably isn't very old and not worth more than 50 dollars. Also, that older pieces would almost always have the makers mark on the bottom. Any opinions? Thanks, Tara

Best way to sell a large set of Ashford Grey Wedgwood?

My mom wants to sell a complete service of Ashford Grey Wedgwood (1951-1965, pattern number w4106). I know it's not the best time to sell with the economy being what it is, but my brothers going to college next year and she'll be dealing with some of the cost. It's a huge set, with service for 12. I was wondering if ebay would be a good place to try and sell something like this? Does anyone know if this is a sought after pattern? Any suggestions would be very helpful, thanks!

OT: Gallery Picture Enlargement Issues

I have a few questions and frustrations on picture enlargement on eBay. Each search result page at the bottom under "sponsored links" has three boxes indicating "picture size." I was under the impression that was where I could make the gallery images appear smaller or larger but no matter what size "box" I choose, nothing changes. I have chosen to display only 25 items per search result page and still there is no change in picture size. I am wrong in what I think this "picture size" feature is supposed to do? I like the new feature where you can rest your cursor on "enlarge" and see an gallery image without clicking on the listing. However, sometimes it takes a long time for the image to appear and sometimes forever for the image to "release" on removing my cursor. Is that a browser issue or does this feature still have bugs in it? The "enlarge" feature is not present on gallery images at eBay UK. As a newish seller here in the US, I can add up to 12 pictures to my listing for free. eBay UK listings (glass) so often just have one photo, the gallery image, which can be enlarged in the listing and that's it. Does eBay UK have some el cheapo one-photo listing offer and/or does eBay UK still charge per picture there? I'm not blind but my eyes tire easily and the bigger I can get images to appear the longer I can search and have a feeling I'm not alone in this.

Turquoise matte finish vase - very thin flower like top

Would anyone have a clue who might have made this? It is about 5 1/2" tall, 3" across the top and 1 1/2" across the bottom. The pottery is very thin at the top. For all I know it could be fresh from the dollar store but it is interesting. Thanks for any input! Claudia

Deruta apothecary jar (albarello, drug jar)?

This is definitely the albarello shape and size, but the decoration is so... sort of blah (for Deruta). Since there are no drug or compound names on the piece, I was wondering if might be some sort of medicinal plant. A friend told me that you can now pick up 'cheap' Deruta at discount stores, like Marshall's - could this just be a low end piece? ____________________ I'll secondhand that!
