Potties - USA Vase (?)

Hello everyone, I bought this set at a garage sale for very little money because it had a big sign on it saying "62 years old". When I asked how they could be so precise I was told it was given to the woman's mother as a wedding present in 1947. Having heard that, I couldn't resist but I have no clue who made it, if it's really that old, trash or treasure. Any advice would be wonderful. Thank you. Pat It's more turquoise than it appears in the pics.

Porcelain...Heavy gold

Hi! I have this lovely 13" porcelain vase that I purchased this past weekend. My first question is, does anyone recognize the mark? I am thinking that this mark was discussed at length recently but I might be mistaken. I am pretty sure this is an early 20th century Japanese vase. If someone knows this mark or remembers the thread in which it was discussed please let me know! My second question has to do with the gold decoration. In many areas it is much thicker and heavier than the usual gilding, I am wondering if the correct term would be "gold moriage"? Or is there another more appropriate term for heavy gilding that looks like moriage? Thanks for taking the time to look! Caroline

ID help for elegant bubble in stem Candlestick

This is a very nicely made candlestick, at the top of the stem is a ball with a bubble inside. It is heavy for it's size, suspect it is lead crystal, glows a nice blue color under UV. One you might suspect to be marked, but might have been rejected due to small bubble in the foot. There is an ectched "X" on the foot near that bubble. Anyone recognize this, or at least who I may try to find it? It is 7" tall. Thanks for looking, Dennis. Link Link

Steins - 2 Glass, 1 Pottery

I'm trying to get some Octoberfest-type items worked up the the tagsale, and I'm stuck on these three steins. Any IDs or listing tips would be appreciated - thanks! The first is a pottery stein with (I think) grey clay. Heavy with a nice design. 6" high, 2-5/8 diameter at the lip. All thumbnails clickable: Next are these 2 glass steins. The first has painted-on deer and a crest on the front (I forgot to take a pic of the crest, but you can see it through the glass in the first pic). It has a "Made in Germany" sticker. The metal cover is light in weight, but unmarked - most likely aluminum? It is 6.5" high, 3" in diameter at the lip. The smaller stein has a cut criss-cross design in the glass, and a pewter (?) lid with a leaf

GLASS: Is This Considered a

I got a neat pitcher today, but didn't notice that it appears to be cracked(?). I was too interested in the decoration and didn't notice this until I got home. Interestingly though, the "crack" seems to eminate from the mold seam, around the bottom of the handle. I cannot feel *anything* on the outside OR inside. Can cracks be in the "meat" of the glass? When you set the pitcher down, it doesn't make that "loose" noise when something is cracked. Not sure what to make of it. Would this be considered a "settling mark?" Here are some pics: TIA !!!

Pottery ID needed on this blue eyed boy figurine

This audacious toddler is nearly 11 inches tall. The pottery is light weight, like that used by Jean Manley and that in many carnival prizes. Looking for Info on Signed Dichroic Glass Tray

Good Morning All, I've Googled my fingers to nubs and haven't come up with any info on this piece. I found one dichroic glass artist by the name of Dolores Barrett, but it seems she didn't get into dichroic glass until 2002 and this piece is dated 96 (at least I think that the 96 stands for the year, correct me if I'm wrong). So I'm hoping someone here can shed some light on this piece for me. It is a 9" square. I'm calling it a tray for lack of a better word. If it was flat I'd think it was a trivet, but the corners curl up a bit. The squares of dichroic glass seem to be inlaid into the black glass and then there's the special little tile framed in black and is under a layer of clear glass. Signed Barrett on the back with little rubber feet. Any info greatly appreciated! Sorry for the lousy pics.

GLASS: Libbey Tumblers ??

I came across a super-cute 2 glass set of what appears to be Holly Hobbie painted tumblers. I'm pretty sure they're Libbey ... but the maker's mark is bothering me. It looks like the curly Q "L" Libbey uses - but is is inverted. Would this be a fake? Or is it another type of maker? Both glasses have these marks. Also - if this is Libbey - do you know about when these were made ... 70s probably? Thanks so much -

redware lion doorstop; big pictures

I would welcome any information about this doorstop. I think it might have been made in a Scottish brickworks in the 19thc as these often had a sideline in rather rough wares such as garden furniture and chimney pots. It looks like it was painted black with oil paint rather than glazed and also blackened using "blacking" the substance used in Victorian households to polish cast iron fenders and stoves. The clay was pressed by hand into the mould. It is about a foot long. The terracotta

Any clue about this pitcher? Help please

Hi everyone. Does anyone have a clue about this pitcher? I found it while I was out and about and it came with 4 matching tumblers. i think its old ( a relative term ) as it has overall crazing on the cups with some staining also. There are some chips which also have some rusty stains around them. It doesnt feel "1950's" to me. The pitcher is however in better condition. Anyway, no marks which we all know makes it hard to identify or date. The pitcher has a scene with a barren tree, some birds and windmills and the tumblers have the same tree with sailboats. Some of the transfer is worn off where the thumbs fall across the tumblers. Anyway, I loved them and would love to find someone who might help me date them or figure out their origin. Thanks

Potties 4 pcs- Jugtown cndlestk, incised clay vase, crazy vase

Hi all, I picked up some unusual pottery yesterday (my daughter took me all day for my birthday - how great!) The first is a Jugtown Ware candlestick - I found one on their website called JH Owen candlestick - is this right? The mark does have the jug in the center, it is just very, very light.. It stands 13" tall. Second is an incised vase - the material looks like clay. It measures 5 1/4" tall 4" rim diameter. No markings I can see..any help with maker / age? Third - this is a beautiful handpainted pottery vase - it is signed "Pancho" on the side under the woman. I've looked everywhere I can think to id - do you know who? This vase measures 6" tall with a 4" rim. Hand thrown as I can feel the marks on the inside. And 4th and final one - I call this a 'crazy' vase. Very unusual - some of it looks like enameled paint. There are characters signed on the inside rim. There is a sticker on the underside - I've looked and looked..who made this?In the middle of the sticker is Flower Vase, above it is (a word - characters?) and below symbols? What is it called? It is red clay on the inside. I couldn't decide whether to dismiss this one or pick it up...so of course I picked it up..it was just 'unusual' and worth a look at..It measures 6" tall. The characters on the inside - what do they mean? Thank you for any and all input.. Jamie

Hazel Atlas Glassware Ships Pattern in Red?

Hi, I just picked up a set of 6 red glasses, 4 3/4" tall, with the ships decal on them just like the blue ones you see on eBay. There is one red tumbler for sale right now and many blue ones. My Depression Glass book only mentions red off-hand and, I'm wondering if the red is actually a reproduction or what? Though it seems rarer in color, the one red tumbler up there doesn't seem to have generated a bunch of excitement. I appreciate any help! Juli

Libby Cut Crystal bowl?

I was going through some stuff that I was considering selling on Ebay. I have a rather large crystal bowl that is cut, not pressed, and I guess to be lead. It is about 11" diameter and weighs nearly 5 pounds (holy cow). I could see a tiny etched "Libby" logo inside the bowl in the middle. Is this the "Libby" known for making our everyday drinking glasses? Is it worth anything by this maker? I do know it is old, but I am not sure if it was given to my parents when they married (over 50 years old). or belonged to my great aunt (could be 100 years). Pottery: 2 green vases, molded design

I've been digging through several boxes of inventory given to me years ago by a colleague when she closed her mall space due to major illness. I found 2 small pottery vases -- possibly by the same maker -- that have molded designs and handles and underglaze white "sponged" detail. My colleague tagged one "Shawnee green vase" and the other simply "small green vase." Actually the latter is more of a dark turquoise than true green. Can anyone confirm if one or both of these vases are Shawnee, or something else entirely? Shawnee ? green vase Tag #1426 5-1/4" high, 2" mouth, 2-5/8" rim diameter, 2-1/2" base diameter Molded design on 2 sides suggests an arrow or shooting star. Underglaze white "sponged" design. Split glazed/unglazed base. Small blue-green vase Tag #1600 5-7/8" high, 2-1/8" mouth, 2-1/2" rim diameter, 2-1/2" base diameter Molded design on 2 sides suggests a curling wave. Underglaze white "sponged" design, thicker than on #1426 vase. Split glazed/unglazed base. My Glass Duchess To eBay, I think we hover somewhere between loathed, tolerated, and ignored.

Strange Center Handle Glass, 2 other small pcs. For Help, Please. TIA

1. This center handle server has a brooding purplish/oxblood color and a lot of etching around the outside. It is about 10 1/2" in diameter. The center handle may be Bartlett, Cambridge 173 or Central Glass 1435. Does anyone recognize it? Maker, color name, etch, age? Any suggestions for taking better pictures of it? The next 2 aren't anything special but are rather sweet...just looking for info. 2. Sweet gold rim dish with painted/enamel daisies, 9 3/4" diameter. Maker, name, when? 3. Very think 'fine' glass, ruffled edge, 5 1/4" diameter, gold edge, white wheat. Thanks for your generous help. Have a beautiful week. Pat

Art Glass Vase From Finland

I have an art glass vase from Finland that I need some help with. This was made by Rihimaen Lasi, still has the foil label. Was wondering if anyone might have an idea when it was made, the designer name and maybe a pattern name? Vase measures 4 3/8" tall and is 4 1/8" wide. At the bottom it has a design of what looks like raindrops rolling down a window. Thanks in advance.

Murano? Italian? Fake? triangular vase with ruffled top

Link Not sure how old this is but I'm guessing its not too old. It is 7.75" tall, ruffle is 3.25 dia., triangular base is 3"x3"x3" the triangle sides are not all EXACTLY the same size.As you can see there are deepcolors and lighter colors. Each colored "dot has corresponding "shimmer specks" like teeny glitter specks. The white background does not shimmer. Please take a look at the link and let me know what you think. Thank you!

GLASS ID please -- crystal goblet, stumped Replacements

Hi, I was recommended here by an online friend on another website...I found one little stemmed glass by itself at Goodwill a couple of weeks ago, and even though I'm more a studio art glass/pottery kind of girl, it spoke to me and I had to bring it home. It's very intricately cut and faceted in addition to having an optic pattern -- it's small (5-1/16" tall) and sings like no crystal I've ever heard before -- even sings when tapped on a leather covered steering wheel. If anyone has any idea what this is (no markings, of course, either name or logo) or sources to look for it, I'd be so appreciative. Thanks in advance. I'm linking to my flickr page with two photos of it. If any other photos would help, please let me know. (I haven't included a photo of the underside of the base because there's literally nothing there. I can post one if you want, but I've been all over it with a magnifying lens.) Link

Imperial Vs. Fenton Open Swans Guide

I just put a guide in the reviews on how to tell the difference between the Imperial and the Fenton Open Swans. The photos are so reduced by eBay that they are hard to tell, but I wrote the differences as well. Hope this helps with any confusion as not all are marked by either company. Link to guide.

OT - Great Finishes

We have a Futures Thread and Great Finds thread, so I thought what about a Great Finishes thread. This thread could be anything that was sold very well that there was a huge profit margin or something that exceeded expectations or just shocked you that it sold and for what it sold, or it could a weird piece that sold like Peggy's sanitary belt. We don't always sell what we show in the Great Finds thread so I thought this would be fun to show our great finishes. Oh and this does NOT need to be PGP only, as many of sell anything under the sun. I would love this thread to help us know what's selling as this thread goes on. This will be an ongoing thread, not a weekly one since we all have auctions ending all the time. If it catches on great, if not, no biggie

******* Coming Attractions Thread 6/1 through 6/7 *******

Welcome all to the PGP Coming Attractions Thread. This is an experiment and if it proves popular I will start a new one every week on Monday. The rules are: 1. No more than two pieces per post and no more than three posts per week. (That way we are not jamming up the board and it puts everyone on the same page.) For a total of three posts per week and a show of six items (1 photo per item) - so choose wisely. 2. No long drawn out descriptions. If the piece is signed, just simply name the maker, or unsigned, or material (glass, porcelain, earthenware...). Keeping It Simple. 3. Pictures should be no bigger than 450 X 450 at 72 DPI so the board isn't broken and our dial up friends can easily view. 4. Items posted can not be up for sale yet but can be up during the week it is posted. 5. Only ebay sales posted here please! No auction links, photos only. Remember this is your opportunity to show fellow collectors what you will be listing this week. Have fun! Marie

Pottery - ID needed on small leaf dish?

Link In all my searching on the net, I've not been able to track down the maker of this little green leaf "dish". It looks like it may have come from a bigger set, but might be a one-off item for display? The mark looks sort of "craftsman era" to me, but that is just my wild guess. It measures about 7" long by 1" deep on leaf's "edge". I've had this piece for at least 25 years and remember it looked pretty vintage even back then. It's in mint shape, with just a light crazing to the clear coat on it. Any ideas on ballpark value or what price to start it at on eBay? Any help from you experts would be very appreciated. Thanks!

This Large Porcelian Egg just won't sell when I list it!

Hi everyone! I would appreciate any and all comments about this item. Through the years I have listed it now and then even at Easter with no luck. Probably could use a good describtion, for instance, are the flowers hydrangas? This pretty egg is from my great grandmother and I inherited it in the early 70s along with her porcelian egg collection. The other eggs were stamped "limoges" and other stamps so I was able to sell them by photographing the stamps years ago on them and buyers seem to like limoges. This egg is just as pretty was actually the largest in her collection at 7" long by 5" wide by 5" high. All it has on the bottom is stamped numbers and gold number of 121. I have no idea where it is from, but her other eggs were from France so do you think this one is too. . I usually start the listing at 24.99 which I thought was fair but what do you think? . Thank you for any hints or ideas about how to describe this correctly.. Cheers Maria

Oneida Crystal Sand Carved Cameo Milk Glass

I'm wondering in anyone has any company info for Oneida Crystal? Are they related to Oneida Silver? How long have they been in business? I have a vase and powder dish that look to be cut back white glass. Would this still be considered Cameo Glass if only one color is used? I've googled for over a month and haven't been able to find any more info. The vase has an Oneida Crystal sticker. The powder dish had it not been purchased with the vase I would have a hard time deciding wether it was glass or stone. Since it is not marked it still could possibly not be Oneida Crystal like the vase. The bottom to the powder dish is very thick and heavy, which is why I thought it could be stone. If anyone has any insight to these pieces it would be appreciated.
