Hi all, This is a covered butter or cheese dish. The underplate measures 7 1/4" in diameter. With cover the piece stands 4 3/4" tall. At first I thought it was a marriage of pieces but then I realized the patterns in the blocks do match. My first impression was cut glass, but now I am not so sure. Thank you in advance for your help..Jamie
