Hasbro My Real Baby- Out of Production and Hard to Find

It really is easy to promote something if you believe in it. In utilizing this new 'tool' that okay has made available, we picked a product that is tried and true by us, thus, making it simple to be praise-worthy; Hasbro's My Real Baby. Our initial reaction, without her batteries, was similar to most dolls. We were happy that she was an average 21 inch length, and her overall appearance was adorable. Once we turned her on, she seemed to literally, gee to life! This first had my (then 7 y/o) daughter a bit 'uneasy', however, mom and dad were AMAZED! The only place we had ever seen this type of robotic activity was at Disneyland, similar to the people props on 'The Pirates of the Carribean' ride. It didn't take long, though, forour daughter to take to 'Emily', and begeethee one and only doll in her life. 'Emily' has progressive speech ability. Over short time, her coos became words, and her words became sentences. We didn't know it was a feature, but, learned on our own, that bouncing her on your knee got that 'ah ah ah' response. She also giggles when her feet are tickled and responds to her bottle or thumb, with sucking! 2 different burp patterns! Talk about INTERACTIVE play! Lay her down for 'nite nite' and she goes through the motion of sighs, and blinky eyes, before surrendering to sleep. 5 minutes later, she 'powers down' for battery preservation. This feature gives the feel of a real baby, versus utilizing the on/off button. (yes, she has one, but, its rarely used!) We found that My Real Baby does not push the limits with constant crying, as with other dolls. She is very well balanced in her "attitude". Since her facial expressions coincide, she is the most remarkable doll to hit the market!
Do not confuse Hasbro My Real Baby with Hasbro Baby Alive.

Who knows why she was only produced for a very short period of time? We do. Hasbro My Real Baby did not get the adequate gemercial exposure necessary to deposit into the target consumer, the "desire to want one". Basically, little girls didn't knowMyReal Babyexisted! gepounded by the elections of 2000, she never got her 15 minutes. Since toys seldom get introduced into the market twice, she missed her chance. After about only 100,000 dolls, Hasbro My Real Baby wasdiscontinued.
Fortunate are the ones that can get their hands on one!
