Link In all my searching on the net, I've not been able to track down the maker of this little green leaf "dish". It looks like it may have come from a bigger set, but might be a one-off item for display? The mark looks sort of "craftsman era" to me, but that is just my wild guess. It measures about 7" long by 1" deep on leaf's "edge". I've had this piece for at least 25 years and remember it looked pretty vintage even back then. It's in mint shape, with just a light crazing to the clear coat on it. Any ideas on ballpark value or what price to start it at on eBay? Any help from you experts would be very appreciated. Thanks!

This Large Porcelian Egg just won't sell when I list it!
Hi everyone! I would appreciate any and all comments about this item. Through the years I have listed it now and then even at Easter with no luck. Probably could use a good describtion, for instance, are the flowers hydrangas? This pretty egg is from my great grandmother and I inherited it in the early 70s along with her porcelian egg collection. The other eggs were stamped "limoges" and other stamps so I was able to sell them by photographing the stamps years ago on them and buyers seem to like limoges. This egg is just as pretty was actually the largest in her collection at 7" long by 5" wide by 5" high. All it has on the bottom is stamped numbers and gold number of 121. I have no idea where it is from, but her other eggs were from France so do you think this one is too. . I usually start the listing at 24.99 which I thought was fair but what do you think? . Thank you for any hints or ideas about how to describe this correctly.. Cheers Maria

Have Glass Vase, Lamp
Would appreciate any comments. The first is a purplish vase with a rough pontil. Want to rule out Blenko, can take it back. Don't think it is but I have missed out on some that I didnt think they were but they were. Measurements 11" tall, opening is 51/4" 1 3/4" across top. Maybe someone would know if its any good. This is an old thumbprint lamp that glows with a black light and has round thumbprints which I was told were tiffany. It measures 12 1/2" to the insert for bulb 4 1/8" wide at bottom. Last is a crystal bowl or compote, Looks and sounds like a very good crystal. Measures 8' across the top, 7 1/2" tall. Thank you for any comments. Mary

Oneida Crystal Sand Carved Cameo Milk Glass
I'm wondering in anyone has any company info for Oneida Crystal? Are they related to Oneida Silver? How long have they been in business? I have a vase and powder dish that look to be cut back white glass. Would this still be considered Cameo Glass if only one color is used? I've googled for over a month and haven't been able to find any more info. The vase has an Oneida Crystal sticker. The powder dish had it not been purchased with the vase I would have a hard time deciding wether it was glass or stone. Since it is not marked it still could possibly not be Oneida Crystal like the vase. The bottom to the powder dish is very thick and heavy, which is why I thought it could be stone. If anyone has any insight to these pieces it would be appreciated.

I could use advice on picking a name for my glass/bar themed item
i could use some advice..I have an item I'd like to put up on Ebay, but am clueless as to what i should call it, or what catagory I should put uinder. What would i call this- a 'mini bar'? Should I list it under glass? Is there a catagory for bar implements? Any advice would be appreciated, thanks

Pottery fun
As you all know, half the fun in antiqueing is the learning we do. I thought this was worth sharing... I have owned the blue Van Briggle lamp for years and just found the red one for $75 so couldn't pass it up. When I get them side by side I am intrigued by the differences. And when I search this mold on the web I see dozens of variations. Jug on the right, jug on the left, girl nude, girl draped in dress, bare back, clothed back, bent arm, straight arm, hair combed back, hair parted in middle, etc. How of earth did they accomplish so many variations of the same basic theme, and WHY???? Anyone??? Oh, and this---- the red one is missing the cord hole. It is the only one I found that doesn't have the cord coming out the base. Strange?? Steve

Did you know there is a such thing as
Found this great 60's vinyl rain coat with bag and matching bonnet and had to laugh when the tag read 100% Virgin Vinyl. Of course that prompted me to find out what makes vinyl a virgin! From Wikipedia: "Virgin vinyl is new vinyl manufactured and extruded with the original vinyl chemical solution being used. The chemicals and color pigments are pristine, and the entire production process is new and sterile from the beginning. This form of vinyl strapping has great recovery when stretched, the colors are sharp and clear, and its protection from ultra violet rays is very good. Stain-resistant chemicals are built into the product, increasing its lifespan and protecting its appearance."

Help! Lace ID on Edwardian titanic gown 1900s silk metalic opera coat?
Hi, I am a bit stumped and could really use some help. the first item is a late Victorian but probably Edwardian to 10s cutwork gown. What sort of lace / cutwork is this? what would you call it? Do you think Edwardian? Later? Second item is a very old Henri Bendel silk? metallic robe or coat with a fur collar and silky black velvet. I think the velvet goes inside and the fabric outside because the Henri Bendel tag is directly on the velvet. It has no closures. I think there is a specific name for this and the type of fabric / pattern, but I can't recall it? Could any of you please name this item? Is it an opera coat? Is this early 1900s? Okay, I have never been much of one for watching the pulse: because the small subcatagory I can get to is simple "Women's Vintage Clothing" -- and that's all newer vintage -- USUALLY -- that doesn't really interest me. The links for each decade of lingerie auctions in one of the threads today has finally prompted me to ask: how you are you seeing Pulse pages for the leaf catagories? Need some help dating this moose scene tapestry
I also posted on the NAVT board but am also posting here since there are so many knowledgeable people here. I need to date this tapestry some how. It depicts a pair of moose as you can see and looks like the fringe is hand tied. Not thinking it is older than the 50s because of the estate I got it from. This was not in the house and was rolled up with some 60s fabric in a covered area. She was married in the 50s and looked to be about 70-75 yrs. old. It isn't thick like a rug. Maybe the photos can give some clues for you. It measures 68 x 24.5 not including the fringe.Back of tapestryThanks! Linda

does anyone ever buy books about vintage fashions?
At some point in the past, I bought a book from my library titled: The Way We Wore: Fashion Illustrations of Children's Wear 1870-1970 by Linda Martin. It's a pretty neat book; it has no text, it's just full of illustrations from fashion magazines, catalogs, and, I think, pattern books. I was thinking it might be a good reference book for someone interested in vintage clothing but I'm not sure so I thought I'd ask you all for advice. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks in advance

OT Just for fun-YOUR prom pictures!
So I have a nasty cold and don't want to do anything today but feel sorry for myself. So is you have any old prom pictures of yourself or a loved one, post them here! Me Winter prom 1986. I bought this prom dress at the thrift store. My parents couldn't afford to buy me a new dress and I preferred vintage anyway. Black lace and taffeta bullet bust mermaid dress. This dress was a perfect hourglass shape and I actually had to take it in because my 15 year old figure didn't have the curves for the dress. Wish I had that problem now! Yes, it's true I had no date.

Is There Anything I Can Do About Getting Cig. Smoke Out Of Mink??
A friend gave me a mink stole to sell. It's vintage and although it has not been exposed to smoke all it's life it has been exposed to it in the month that it was in the home of this friend. She's a chain smoker. The odor is not as bad as it could be but it's enough that I would'nt sell it smelling like that. Any tips? Thanks so much.

I have 2 yds of 70's acetate twill fabric with Schiaparelli signature on a graphic design. OT: I got ANOTHER new model! *squee*
Well I tested out a new model today during the absolute WORST thunderstorm EVER! OMG I am about to have to start gathering two of every animal and then my house was struck by lightning just as she was trying to find my house, I lost phone service, my shooting lights wouldn't work, and she was lost. But she got in and her husband fixed the lights, so we were able to do some test shots, but the light was really bad today even with the lighting setup, so I know they are too dark in places even after PhotoShop. Anyhoo, she is 3 inches taller than my other model, she is a lot younger, and seems to do really well with the cutesy babydoll Lolita-ish stuff and some glam stuff. And she wants to do 50s/rockabilly/pinup type stuff, so we might do some tests with that. Anyhoo, I was really pleased with her ability and she has NO experience, but has natural ability, way more shy than my other model, but poses just as well. Thanks guys!

Hi! I have tried to research the SunForce clothing label, but the only thing that comes up is Sunforce Solar Products. I did find an old ebay listing for a SunForce shirt, but there was no help as to era in the description. The sleeve length is only 8-3/4 inches. The label says it's 100% cotton, but it feels very silky and smooth - made in U.S.A. Thanks so much for your help!

Hat: Date
Hi. I need some hat help. I'm embarrassed. I don't know how it should be worn. I'm assuming the label goes to the back and the hair comb that's attached would grip hair just above the forehead. When I place it on my own head, it feels fabulously right. On Sabrina, not so much. The fit is a bit awkward. Is this late 40s/ early 50s? I'm showing the hat worn the same way in all photos, trying to give a sense of the way it looks from many angles. So, tell me. Is this how it's worn? I sure hope I don't have it on backwards. Thanks very much. Holly Welcome to my blog.

Russian Buyer Wants 1st Class Int'l - the listing only quotes PMI
Auction listing 260430920197 ended last night with a sale to a buyer in Moscow, to whom I sent an invoice showing shipping by PMI. I only show PMI rates on my listings for outside the US because I've had problems with no tracking with 1st Class Mail International when an item got stuck in British customs for weeks. Now the auction has ended the buyer is emailing me asking me to send her an invoice showing 1st Class Mail International. I'm inclined to be hardnosed about it but first thought I'd get other people's opinions. Thanks so much in advance. Pat

Help Identifying Porcelain Fukagawa Arita Pattern and Worth
Hello and thanks for taking the time to read this. I have had this set of porcelain Fukagawa Arita for over 5 years. I have not been able to identify the pattern or find out if it is worth anything. I've contacted Replacements LTD and sent them a picture to post and they couldn't identify it. I contacted the Fukagawa company and was told that they couldn't identify it because they didn't keep pattern records after a period of time? The lady I bought it from said her and her husband brought it here from Japan in 1963. I've looked on ebay for years to see if the pattern would be there. A lot of the Fukagawa dinnerware on ebay has wheat or pine. This has a Dragon Medallion and a greek type of design on the rim. There is also a small skinny type pitcher. I'd love to know the pattern and if it is worth anything but I'm also curious if it is rare since I've never found it. Link Link Link

Amber EAPG Butter Dishes Squirell Pickle and Bell- Makers?
Hello, I am looking for a maker on these early Butter dishes. The client has many highly collectible butter dishes. I just sold the Bee butter dish and I am listing a Banner dish today, as well as a Riverside Glass Rabbit dish, but these three escape me! I have looked high and low and cannot find any like it, so I am asking for help. The One with the Bell, I am unsure exactly what it is. It is an actual bell but it fits perfectly on that dish and she said they go together. I think the Squirell may be Adams or US glass, but I can't find an example to verify this. The pickle I have no clue about as well as the bell. I know US Glass made a jar called Pickle Vine, but I am sure they are unrelated. It is a Hobnail type of pattern with a Pickle Finial. Help!

Glass swung vase 14 '..Oh My! Red,Orange Yellow
I just bought this vase and it's so far out of my zone that I'm pretty dubious. Good or really Bad ? It's 14 ' high with a yellow rimmed edging. The base is interesting with applied (I think) dark red glass feet that taper and twist around and upwards, each one with yellow on either side. The pontil mark seems still fairly rough.. New? Old? Bird bath base? Gazing Ball base? Maker?
Once again I ask for help as I reveal the depths of my ignorance. I like this, but I'm not even sure what I have here. I was told it was used as a base for a gazing ball, which may well be, but a friend suggested it could be a birdbath base.... It is about 20 1/2" tall. I don't know anything about it's age, and I don't see any maker's name. Lending some support to the bird bath theory is the bird motif on the bottom of the base (see second photo) . I'm in SHOCK right now, please help me identify this vase.
This vase belonged to my grandmother. My dad had it in the BACK of his china cabinet, in a very non prominent place since her death in 1999. I've been admiring it for a while and asking whether I could sell it for him (and my sister) and today he brought it over! It is so pretty. Looks like a pheasant on it? It is 12" tall. It is DEEPLY crazed but I do not see any cracks or damage to it. The bottom is not marked but there appears to be a symbol (that almost looks like a crab with it's claws reaching out) that has faded over the years and the bottom appears like it may have been wet at one point. It reminds me of a tiny vase that I sold on ebay about 9 years ago for $500 that I cant remember the name of. Does anyone have ANY info on this item? I'm not even sure what country it originates, although my hunch is Italy? Thanks so much in advance!

Hmmm. Is it OK to call a piece Cobalt Blue because that's the color name, and leave it up to the pros to determine if the glass content makes it cobalt content, in the case where I don't know the glass content? Ceramic Bowl mystery - any suggestions?
I'm cursed with only getting interested in things which I know nothing about. This bowl mystifies me and I'm hoping that someone might have seen something like it and give me a direction for researching it. What confuses me is the combo of sloppy glaze (around the base rim) and the pink cast to the interior combined with what seems like some pretty intense gold work. The gold band application seems more than gilding - the rim actually has what seems like gilding that is wearing off, while the gold band around it seems like another technique. Also - there is an edge to the gold band that looks like a line was carved into the bowl at the edge of the gold band - why? It looks ugly and sloppy. All that is just frustration talking as I can't seem to get a feel for this bowl - even a general one like trying to figure out if it is US or Euro and if modern or old. Any hunches or memories of something remotely similar would be appreciated.

Porcelain Sug/Cream Roses
This creamer and sugar are so pretty! The finial on the cover is a rose, and the roses protrude from the surface (not blown out) It has a number 953 on the bottom. Also 1 small white creamer with gold trim. I don't recognize the mark, and don't even know what language that is on the bottom. Anyone ever see either of these before? Thanks for any ideas and help. Need Help with Porcelain Teapot Markings in Arabic
I have this conch shell teapot and the markings on the bottom of it are in Arabic. I estimate this would have been made in the 1940s or 1950s, but I'm not positive. Does anyone know anything about this type of porcelain or where it could have been made? Do you know what the Arabic markings mean? The first line looks like text, with numbers on the left below it, and symbols on the right. Below are a couple of pictures. Sorry, but I could not get a clearer picture of the markings with my camera. This is the best I could get. I did manage to find a web site with the Arabic alphabet and numbers. The numbers on the bottom of it translated are as follows. But you have to read from right to left. 5266192 (first line) and 6423890 (second line) Any idea what the numbers could be? The markings on the actual item are painted on, so it is not clear to begin with. Thanks in advance.

******* Coming Attractions Thread 8/17 through 8/23 *******
Welcome all to the PGP Coming Attractions Thread, I will start a new one every week on Monday. The rules are: 1. No more than two pieces per post and no more than three posts per week. (That way we are not jamming up the board and it puts everyone on the same page.) For a total of three posts per week and a show of six items (1 photo per item) - so choose wisely. 2. No long drawn out descriptions. If the piece is signed, just simply name the maker, or unsigned, or material (glass, porcelain, earthenware...). Keeping It Simple. 3. Pictures should be no bigger than 450 X 450 at 72 DPI so the board isn't broken and our dial up friends can easily view. 4. Items posted can not be up for sale yet but can be up during the week it is posted. 5. Only ebay sales posted here please! No auction links, photos only. 6. Please, only post within ebay rules - for example, make sure you only post your own photos, ones that you have personally taken! Remember this is your opportunity to show fellow collectors what you will be listing on ebay this week. Have fun! PS A big thank you Carl for watching over the thread while I was away over last weekend. It is hard when I go away somewhere with no internet access (in-laws - we are lucky they have cable ). I can drive around and hopefully find a non-protected network but I hate doing that. But when you have to email, you have to email! --Marie

HULL Brown Drip Pitcher, Questions
Is this pitcher known as anything in particular (i.e.water pitcher)? There is a "spot", not a chip, kind of like a bubble that burst because there is no glaze in that spot. What is it? Manufacturing thing? On the edge by the spout it appears like they put 2 little globs of clay there before applying the glaze. Is that what it is? How would I describe this? Is that a flaw? Thanx for your help.

Two Pottery Items - Faience
Happy Sunday everyone! I'm hoping someone can help with these two items. First I have a jar that is tin-glazed majolica or faience. However, I don't know what it would be used for or if the bottom has a signature or someone later put a price on it. The condition is excellent, so I'm assuming it's not too old. But, I don't know for sure. And, if anyone can ID the design and initials on it, that would be an added bonus! Here are the pics. It's about 7 1/2" tall. Next, I have a pottery ewer or pitcher that, I believe is American made. Does anyone recognize this? It's about 9" tall. Thank so much! Juli

OT Ebay issue
I tried to change a typo in an active auction with no bids - and instead, ebay left the original listing with typo but added a SECOND listing as 'new' with related fees. In attempting to add photos to active auctions, I am repeatedly sent to a screen that wants me to upload to a URL before adding or changing photos - the only way I have found to get around that screen is to delete ALL the photos in the listing, and then re-upload them with the new pix. Add to this a cross buyer who didn't see that USPS time isn't the same as handling time (ruined my star - got me sent a red ! and a warning) and I am getting irritable.....

Glass - Need help with a few IDs Elegant
Hi all, I have been stumped again... The first 2 are cake plates or at least I think they are cake plates... they are smaller than normal 1. This one has Rd 304505 in the center. I think I found it on VaselineGlass.org, but just wanted to be sure.. it also said the pattern was registered in 1997 on the site, but this seems a bunch older. It measures 3" tall and 8" wide 2. is a similar sized cake plate 3. I think these are Cambridge, just hoping someone could give me a line number or help with the color names. The stems are chrome and not marked. They are 6" tall 4. I have a set of these in multiple colors 5. Last is an opaque blue salt and pepper shaker. 2 1/2" tall Thanks for any help! Jan
