LASERMAX FOR GLOCK 26 27 33 (LMS-1161)
What I will tell you is about my experience with the sight, and LaserMax service, which are both outstanding. The LaserMax LMS-1161 is a guide rod laser, meaning that it replaces the guide rod and recoil spring inside your gun. This means there is nothing attached to the outside of your gun that would force you to get a special holster, and for concealed carry, this was an absolute requirement. I will not go into all the features of the sight--you can get that easily enough from the LaserMax web site. I chose a Fobus concealed carry and Fobus Roto Paddle holster for my Glock. And I'm waiting for the right person to offer up a Milt Sparks Versa Max 2 on okay. So with two holsters and a desire for a third, having a standard profile is important to me. The LMS-1161 installed perfectly according to the instructions (watch the DVD--it helps smooth the process and make you less apprehensive about doing it,) and functioned exactly as described. The only problem was the new switch (it replaces the stock take-down lever) seemed to protrude out a bit too much and so it was a challenge to holster and draw the weapon without turning the laser on inadvertently. In fact, I once turned it on in the holster by sitting wrong (I suppose) and wore out the batteries in short order. Luckily they recovered after I discovered the problem and ensured the sight was off for a few hours. While this problem might be solved by burrowing a furrow in the holster where the switch naturally rubs, I wanted a more holster independent solution and wrote LaserMax. They evaluated the problem and sent me a new switch that was machined slightly thinner for free! The solution is better, but I can still inadvertently turn on the laser while it's in the holster and I think I might have to file the part a little bit more. Nevertheless, I was pleasantly surprised that they took the time to help me with my problem and sent me a new part to try out. They have been exceptionally helpful and responsive--something I do not see often these days.To sum up, the LaserMax internal sight is perfect for concealed carry. The Glock 27 model has a switch that might be too wide for your holster, but if you experience the same problem as I did, LaserMax will be there to help fix it fast.
